AM Quality Trends Report – February 2022 Newsletter

Achieving The Power of Closed-Loop QA Processing

Sigma and Materialise announced a breakthrough technology to enhance the scalability of metal AM applications. The new platform combines the Materialise Control Platform and Sigma Labs’ PrintRite3D® sensor technology to allow users to identify and correct metal build issues in real-time – leading to added process control, consistency, and repeatability – key factors in scaling AM operations for serial production.  As Materialise CTO Bart van der Schueren stated, “The platform we’ve developed eliminates one of the most common roadblocks for manufacturers interested in using metal additive manufacturing for serial production.”

World Economic Forum Forecasts Mass 3D Printing within 10 Years

In its latest white paper, the World Economic Forum forecasts a widespread, mass production of industrial 3D printing in the next decade. As the chart below shows, the two top issues for additive manufacturing practitioners and suppliers are cost control and quality and qualification (with 95% rating this as a highly important issue). This is where Sigma Labs can have a big impact on our customers and partners, as well as the entire industry.  Read more.

Auburn University Selects PrintRite3D® to Support Several Additive Manufacturing Projects.

The PrintRite3D solution will be installed on the university’s EOS M290 machine and is the start of an academic and industrial collaboration between the university and Sigma Labs. PrintRite3D will be implemented to support several projects at the Auburn University National Center for Additive Manufacturing Excellence (NCAME) to utilize 3D printed (additively manufactured) components to improve commercial air and space travel. Learn more.

Aconity 3D

Sigma Announces Worldwide Partnership with Aconity3D

The PrintRite3D® in-process quality assurance solution will be certified to work with Aconity3D’s line of 3D metal printers and available as a standard option via Aconity3D’s online configurator. Aconity3D will designate their printers as ‘PrintRite3D Ready™’.  As an OEM, Aconity3D will sell, install and support PrintRite3D as an integrated solution to its customers.
