AM Quality Trends Report – March 2022 Newsletter

Achieving Closed-Loop Additive Manufacturing Quality Control

Earlier this month, Sigma Labs presented an online event with Materialise, about how to use real-time monitoring and analytics to achieve part qualification and to control the QA process. Sigma Labs’ president, Jacob Brunsberg, and Sven Cornelissen, senior research engineer at Materialise, shared these topics:

  • The benefits of AM closed-loop processing
  • Current challenges in real-time AM quality control to improve robustness and repeatability
  • A demonstration of closed-loop processing in action
  • Before and after results
  • About Materialise Control Platform (MCP) and Sigma Labs’ PrintRite3D

World Economic Forum Update on Additive Manufacturing

As we reported in last month’s newsletter, the World Economic Forum (WEF) issued its annual report on the state of the additive manufacturing industry. The good news is that there is potential for steady growth and a strong movement towards industrialized serial production. But as the graphic in the article shows, quality assurance, part qualification and cost reduction are still challenges. Fortunately, Sigma Labs (and our partners) have solutions to these challenges. Read what our CEO, Mark Ruport, had to say about the WEF Report and its implications for our customers and the industry.

DMG MORI

AM Technology Tour

Sigma Labs is joining DMG MORI for the AM Technology Tour at the Additive Manufacturing Excellence Center in Hoffman Estates on April 3 – before the opening of the AMUG Conference in Chicago. The tour, including hands-on demonstrations, will provide an in-depth look at the AM process chain, including the design and programming phase to building and finishing components. Our Sigma team was part of this event last year and it was well-received by attendees.
